Spring/Summer 2018 Biggest Handbag Trend

Trend 1- shape matters

As can be seen on the Spring/Summer runways 2018 marked the year where the form and shape of the bag really matters. Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Anya Hindmarch for example has introduced circular bags this year into their show, spheres were present at Celine, Louis Vuitton opted for cube and square shaped bags, and Thom Browne went so far as to introduce bags in the shape of a dog.

Trend 2- Colours: white and pastels

In terms of colours for your bags it ranges from minimalistic whites as can be seen in the shows of Spring/Summer 2018 Roberto Cavalli, Blumarine and Chloe.

To super patterned detail oriented pastel colours as can be seen on Furla’s 2018 Milan summer presentation.

Trend 3: Materials- Straw

Straw bags are also in for this summer 2018 trend and how awesome that is ( Don’t know about you but for me they automatically bring thoughts of picnics and the beach). The straw trend was seen on catwalks of Philip Lim, Badgley Mischka, and Ulla Johnson.

Trend 4: Beading and details

Another trend that I am loving for the summer 2018 is the beaded and sequins smaller clutches- what a cute way to add some interest to your outfit

Trend 5: Fanny Packs

Final trend that is one of my favourite this season are fanny packs. I absolutely personally adore this trend it’s convenient for the summer, and it adds such a cool vibe to any outfit be it a dressy or a more casual look. I especially loved the fanny packs during the Zimmermann show as it combined two of the biggest bag trends fanny packs and straw- can it get any better? Marc Jacobs opted for more sporty fanny pack look- oversized and neon.
It seems that all the world biggest fashion houses this summer are advocating for turning your bag into a conversation piece. I personally love the idea! It’s the summer- let’s have some fun with the accessories we choose to wear while letting our personalities shine through!

Happy bag hunting everyone!
