Rick Owens Spring 2019 Ready-To-Wear

This show had a lot of angular and voluminous shapes. There were exuberant collars, peeling shoulders, and details. The designer had models wear metal headpieces, huge sunglasses that had an insect feel and big boots. Another interesting accessory of the show was lit up torches.

I loved how the designer had both a lot of jutting angular shapes in his line-up, in combination with soft-draped dresses that had fringe trimming. Although there were a lot of armor-like pieces with geometric cutouts the collection still managed to be quite cool and wearable. Especially this short mini dresses.

The dominant color of the collection was black, it gave the angular shapes even more of a crisp and sharp appeal. The designer did mix in some pastels like light blues and green which gave the edgy outfits a more soft and understated feel.

As with all Rick Owen’s collection, everything is a bit more conceptual, I love the designer’s vision and his ability to stand for his beliefs.
