This year Prada choose to show their Resort collection at New York, specifically at The company’s Herzog and de Meuron–designed headquarters on West 52nd Street.
The show mixed a lot of different fabrics matched together, colour blocking, mix of simple prints with more complex, floral designs and of course “ugly prints” that were predominant in their ‘90s shows. The show was full of kick flares slung from the hips.
With this frenzie of prints and colours, I still found myself gravitating towards more minimalistic outfits. I loved the silk slip dress with an empire top in black and camel coloured skirt.Worn over the camel coloured shirt it looked flawless and beautiful.
Another favourite of mine from this show was a bright orange leather shirt paired with black short skirt. Effortless yet the contrast of the colours really make it pop. Tailored coats in the show also looked great.
Unfortunately this was not my favourite collection. For me it felt a bit outdated, as well as I cannot imagine myself wearing these pieces on a holiday this year hence I cannot say it’s very relevant to me. However the designer did incorporate some of the trends of late-2010s like prominent logos and technical sport mesh.
