Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim created a very simple pastel collection, with Meghan Markle asking them to create a wedding day look for her mother Doria Ragland. This seemed like the perfect timing to create a collection that is sophisticated, elegant and chic. That was exactly what the designers did, the collection perfectly encompasses everything for all your weekend of wedding needs- the rehearsal dinner, reception, bridesmaids’ dresses, morning after brunch.
The collection had a lot of vibrant colours which is a great call for the summer season. From gorgeous pastels to brighter prime coloured dresses. All had a sense of elegance. If you are in search for reception dresses, or bridesmaid dresses look no further.
I also loved the collection for its minimalist shapes, and hemline cuts that resembled petals. I was especially drawn to the slouchy pastel suit, paired with heels it is a great summer outfit especially in places where the summer doesn’t get as hot (Moscow).
Another piece that caught my eye was the he camel polka dot dress with a waist belt, it reminded me of Marseille since I wore something very similar there. If you know me you know I like polka dots in general, I feel like it adds the right amount of femininity and fun to any outfit. Moreover I feel like its a perfect piece for everyday summer wear for all ages.
Overall, I liked the collection it was simple and elegant, however for my likes I felt like it did lack variability that Oscar de la Renta is so well known for. Perhaps due to Meghan Markle’s wedding the brand felt like it had an obligation to tone it down and stay within certain boundaries for this resort release. It did have some pretty pieces so if you are on a hunt for that perfect summer suit or an everyday dress I think it still meets all the sophisticated Oscar de la Renta requirements.
